Is it true that Jesus was more than likely Baptized on the Jordan River in Jordan?

When I was in the Holy Land three years ago during the Lebanon conflict, the whole Northern part of Israel was closed.

Fortunately through some local contacts we were able to visit a place on the Jordan river that is closed all but 2 days out of the year. And when I mean closed I mean:

a) Heavy weapon's emplacements

b) Mine fields

c) Armed Israeli soliders

This location is opened up twice a year to allow the Orthodox faithful to go to location held to be the actual spot where Christ was baptized. The river is quite narrow at this local due to an overuse of the Jordan River for irrigation projects, no more than 20 feet across would be my estimate.

On the opposite shore is the country of Jordan, with:

a) Heavy weapon's emplacements

b) Armed Jordanian soliders

c) A really nice pier-like structure for baptisms for pilgrims

(I have no idea about any mine fields in Jordan, we stayed on the Israeli side of the river)

btw - when in Israel, the soliders there treated us with perfect courtesy. Be nice to them and they'll be nice to you. Is it true that Jesus was more than likely Baptized on the Jordan River in Jordan?
No. Today, the tourism in Israel takes people to the Jordan River in Galilee. However, the gospels are clear that John the Baptist was baptising in Judea, i.e. the spot on the Jordan River (Yarden) where Israel mythically came into the Promised Land under Yehoshua.

However, since Jesus and John the Baptiser are also mythical ';people';, there were no mass baptisms there. The only evidence that there were baptisms there is about 200 gospels, letters, and apocalypses, only 27 of which made it into the New Testament Canon.

But, if you are a ';faithful'; person, and accept things by faith and faith alone based on what the Bible says, Jesus was Baptised in the south, in Judea, not far from where the Jordan runs into the Dead Sea. He was not baptised in the Jordan in the north, in Galilee (Galil) where the Israeli guides take the ignorant christian groups, who then get their pictures taken, when they are 60 miles north of where the Bible said the event happened. Then these tourists go home with pictures saying 'I was baptised where christ was.' Pathetic if you ask me. Good way for the modern state of Israel to make a buck though, on ignorant christian westerners. Is it true that Jesus was more than likely Baptized on the Jordan River in Jordan?
Probably not, most of the stories in the bible are based on very little other than an oral tradition. It's like asking if Robin Hood very likely camped out in Sherwood Forest, the stories are placed there but they aren't necessarily true.
In the Jordan river absolutely.

There was no Jordan until after World War One.
