Do people realize that Jesus established true respect for women?

Prior to Christianity adultery was acceptable for men while women had to shut their mouths and accept it. We call the Greeks the founders of civilization and yet their ideal woman was shut up in a dark room for most of her life while the men slept with women, men and even boys. The Romans also treated women disrespectfully as they had the right to commit adultery also. Jesus condemned ALL adultery and set a new standard of true civilization!!!!Do people realize that Jesus established true respect for women?
Wow, nice response. All you did was ask her to bone up on something she's clearly done already. Maybe you should look up some history before laying your unchecked bias on the table. Or at least point her to a period of time where you find a counterpoint. Don't just call people stupid and walk away. You proved nothing.Do people realize that Jesus established true respect for women?
And after Christianity began, nothing had changed. Men still barely got a slap on the wrist for sleeping with other women while women were burned or tortured for sleeping with men.

Jesus did little if anything that gained respect for women. In fact at the high point of Christianity's power, women were thought to not have souls.

For the time period, the roman women had a lot of power, more than the christian women had following them. They had many rights that women would be denied in the future. Christianity has been one of the strongest promoters for misogyny out there.
Jesus respected them so much, he never married while in a culture that believed in it and is an essential part of Judaism and Jewish culture. ANY Jewish man at his age would have been married with children by at least age 16 or 17 by that point, if not sooner.

Everyone jokes about him being Jewish and still living at home with his parents, but you know there's truth in certain things, in that time he would not have lived with his parents at 33, he would have been raising his own family and teaching the traditions to his children and passing down knowledge. Instead he was wandering around with his ';friends'; and did not adhere to the first command, which is to reproduce and multiply ones self.
Jesus didn't establish true respect for women though the historical Jesus did have respect for them. Pre historic cultures up to 9,000 bc had equality between women and men. also the egyptians had women of power and roman woman as well who were also allowed to have rights like having an opinion, a job and owing land as well as getting a divorce. its has only been in the past 80-100 years that women have been gaining true respect back.
yep. always knew that. Also the catalyst for democracy and rights of the individual, socialism and communism. Even atheism is really allowable because Jesus made religion less serious and more questionable.Infact the whole of western civilisation is Jesus based
Jesus may have preached equality, but Christianity has not lived up to it; much of modern Christianity has been aimed at oppressing women
