Here christmas gift for you, 10 points for best answer.
I have seen similar question but those answers didn't satisfied me, even the best answer is a total joke. So can anyone tell me when did Jesus born? I've been read and heard that His born date was actually same as His death date. Is it true? Moreover why people celebrate December 25th as His birthday even Vatican.
Thanks before and Merry Christmas for all of you! (one week again right!?)Is it true Jesus Christ was born on December 25th year 1 AD?
The date has to fit in with Matthew's gospel account of the Magi from the East arriving after Jesus' birth, having followed a star that 'stopped' over Jerusalem, then Bethlehem. King Herod the Great was in power and involved in this. He died in 4 B.C. So the date must be earlier than that! It is.
David Hughes, Prof. of Astronomy at Sheffield Uni, has discovered that 3 years before Herod's death, there was a rare series of meetings between Jupiter and Saturn in the night sky. The two planets came together three times, in May, September and November in 7 B.D. Magi were astrologers who, upon seeing the first phenomenon (the 'star' appearing to stand still in May) would have time to do the calculations for the next 2 events and make the 500 mile trip to Jerusalem. Astrology indicated a King would be born in Israel, you see. So they must have arrived in Jerusalem after the 2nd sighting in September (shortly after Jesus was born), conferred with Herod, then upon being told Bethlehem was prophecied and seeing the 3rd sign, found Jesus in November. It looks as if September 7 B.C. is the date.
So that would not correspond with his death (spring, month of Nisan, Jewish calander). Dec 25 was a compromise date formed much later on because there’s no evidence 1st century Christians celebrated His birth (no date given, nor any instruction to do so). The Roman church settled on it to neutralise the effects of paganism. Never a good idea. Pagans should be left to do what they do, and Christians should get on with doing what Jesus said they must do.Is it true Jesus Christ was born on December 25th year 1 AD?
Nobody knows the exact date of his birth. It is not that important. The Jewish Temple had a calendar for important feasts and holy days, but probably most people did not even keep track of exactly when a baby was born. Maybe birthdays were not celebrated for the most part. So exactly when he was born was not recorded because it was not considered a big deal to the Evangelists.
His birth date and death date the same? No, I don't know where you heard that, unless you mean actual day of the year, not year.
It is usually considered he was about 33 when he was crucified. So it would have been either about 33 AD, or if he was born in 4 BC like some scholars say, his crucifixion and Resurrection would have been in about 29. The time of year for the crucifixion is known because it was at Passover, in spring. But we don't know when he was born. There is speculation because of the shepherds in the fields that it was actually spring and others say the fall. Nobody knows (except God)
No. First off, even if the story were true he would have been born in year 0, not year 1. As for his actual birth, we just don't know. The celebration of the divine king who is sacrificed for an abundant harvest was traditionally celebrated on the winter solstice which corresponds with the Chritmas tradition.
We do not know the day. So all things being equal December 25 is possible. However the Bible makes it unlikely. If you recall the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks. They only kept their flocks in the fields from around April until the first rains in the fall. So sometime between April and September or so seems likely. However the true date is unknown so December 25 is as good as any.
Here's an article from last week. It says that the birthdate was probably June 17. http://www.australiannews.net/story/4394…
As to why it is celebrated when it is, way back when the Catholic Church was first getting organized, there were pagan rituals surrounding the winter solstice. In order to get the new Christians to stop celebrating it as a pagan holiday, the Church attached their own significance to it and called it Christmas.
The birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated on December 25th to coincide with the winter solstice. As a method to expand the Catholic influence to Pagan nations, they turned a lot of traditional holidays into religious celebrations in order to garner the support of the locals. The Vatican does not lie about the date of His birth, they openly admit that the differences between the calender systems cause a wide variety of innacuracy in estimating the possible actual dates mentioned during this era.
A lot of modern Christmas traditions have origins in older roots, such as a Winter feast, gift giving, trees, lights, ham, new years oaths, the list goes on. But more important than their origins is their current value to modern society, giving us all a common theme to come to together and celebrate. Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward men.
Rather than being snarky and negative and focusing on proving others wrong, why not just celebrate the holiday season in your own way and let others be happy with their own traditions?
Actually no one really knows, as we have seen from reading the answers to your question. Biblical scholars are still in debate as to when the actual date was. What we do know is that Jesus was most likely born during the springtime because shepards were out tending their flocks. Therefore it had to be reasonably warm for shepards to be outside during the night. And even that is speculation.
As far as Christmas, it was celebrated as a mass by the Catholic Church who used the time of the winter solstice as a date in which to celebrate. It placated the pagans of the time who celebrated the rebirth of the sun.
No, it is most likely not true. We have accepted the date as ';representative'; of His birth, and choose to celebrate it on that day, just as we do Easter as the celebration of the resurrection day.
The dates are not relevant. The matters of the heart are what is important. I am not sure if the place in Jerusalem they say was His tomb is the actual place or not. (there are 2 of these sites, if I'm not mistaken) The thing that matters is that He is not in those tombs! He is alive! It won't matter who ';says'; they are christian in the day of judgment...it will be those who KNOW HIM as their personal Lord and Savior...those who have a relationship....again, matters of the heart.
No. Religious scholars say, based on stories and the star positions in the sky, Jesus was born in the spring. People celebrate Dec 25 as his birthday because the christians hijacked the winter solstice celebration from the pagans and said it was Jesus' birthday.
Probably not. The census involved was in a different year (you could look it up) and shepherds even in Palestine don't leave their flocks in the fields in winter. No one can tell you when Jesus was born.
The DEC 25th date was picked so the Christians could celebrate the winter solstice like most other religions do. It served to replace the Roman Saturnalia, but Jews had Hanukkah, and others had other ways of celebrating the return of longer days.
People who say Christmas was originally a Pagan holiday are in fact ignorant and not that educated on the subject. In the fourth century the pope declared that the day of the nativity was December 25th. He was consciously offering a spiritual antidote to a pagan holiday. Parties around the winter solstice was popular in ancient Rome and Christmas offered Christians an opportunity to party for a better cause. Christmas was not began, operated or celebrated by Pagans.
The most likely year that Jesus was born, is 6BC, probably in the month of March.
God Bless!
yes , the jesus is born for the sinner person , every one in the world are sinners only but christ born for the to save us life , in his name it's tells christ means savior he born in bethlehem in town of david that is on dec 25th , every pastor tell's after the death of the christ we are counting the years even to day we r say before christ %26amp; after christ
but even thought I have a dought on the same question before christ how many years will there? but all say's after the death of christ
how many years means simplely says 2008. says and says christ died before 2008 years back .thank you for asking wonder question
by this question ? givessome improvement of thinking
Most likely he was born sometime during the grazing season in 4 BC. So anywhere from May to September. Impossible to know for sure and really unnecessary to know for salvation. We celebrate this date because that was a date set by Church councils as the official date. Even though it is not the correct date, it is fitting that we do take time to remember that God came to earth as a human baby named Jesus to live a perfect life for us and die on the cross to pay for all our sins and thus win salvation for all.
Historically, it is more accurate to celebrate Christ Jesus entering the world through conception at Ha-nukk'ah rather than to celebrate His birth at Christmas.
That's how it was on the original Jewish Calendar.

No, neither are true. We do not know the exact date of Jesus' birth (if it did actually occur). The system for years, ';AD';, is based on an assumption of when he might have been born, but evidence, such as when Herod was alive, indicates that the year may have been between 7 to 4 BCE. The 25th was used as the date as a marketing ploy by the church, i.e. they incorporated a ';pagan'; holiday to make it more palatable to them. This has stuck as a tradition.
Many Christians acknowledge that no one knows the exact day Jesus was born. The precise date of Jesus’ birth is not critical, and speculation and controversy about this topic can cause Christians to lose focus
No one knows for sure when Jesus was born. The exact date of the first coming of our Lord is much like the date of his return. No one knows the exact day or hour of the Second Coming (Matthew 24: 36, 42, 44, 50; 25:13). Despite this, many Christians have become enthralled with predicting the date of his return, often losing sight of Jesus Christ and the gospel in the process.
I can't answer your question I am not sure anyone can give you an exact date .. I need to stay focused on the gospels and the REASON Jesus is . People finger point and are at times hurtful by trying to accuse this or push that i think it is best for this Christian to just know Jesus and live by the awesome love he has for us.
trust
December 25th comes from the pagan feast of Saturnalia. There is no one even pretending that it has anything to do with Jesus' birth.
I would put my money on the Feast of Tabernacles, 4 B.C. (mid october)
EDIT: Hey Enthusiast below me...A.D. is not ';After Death';. It's Anno Domini, in the year of our Lord, and there was no ';O';.
The only celebration Jesus ever authorised was the LORD's Supper.
celebrating His birth is just a way of reminding humanity of the love that He gave us when He choose to become Man.
Though there is a lot of disagreement about the actual date, any day would have been okay, since The Man only manifested on that day rather than coming into existence - He has always existed. (Micah 5:2).
For me, and I think for most Christians, 25th Dec. is of no particular importance since we have been redeemed from the influence of moons, solstices, days, etc.
Last night on the news they said that the star that light the sky when Mary was giving birth would have not been visible in december of the supposed year jesus was supposedly born, it would have to have been in june...
No I learned in Church last Sunday He is born on April 3rd. I was surprised! The reason we celebrate it on December 25th is Because there were other Holidays celebrating Saturn the Harvest God around his Birth so they moved it to a day where there weren't many holidays Thus bringing forth Christmas!
He was most likely born in a warmer-weather month, considering the shepherds were out tending to their flocks through the night. The celebration was moved to Dec. 25 to coincide with older pagan celebrations, in an attempt to make it easier to convert the pagans.
And not 1 AD, either. Herod died around 4 BC, so Jesus had to have been born in at least 4 BC, possibly earlier. Yes, that means our calendars are off by a few years.
Nope..not even close. They celebrate it on that day because..way back when..it was a pagan holiday(winter solstice) and Christians were being prosecuted(as always right?) so to avoid unwanted violence and death. They chose to celebrate right along with the pagans.
If it did happen, then supposedly it was around summer time, because of the position of the star that's described in the story.
Jesus wasn't born anywhere close to December 25th. The weight of the evidence, the gospel account of his birth, indicates strongly that he was actually born somewhere around early-to-mid October.
Probably not. The calendar used in that part of the world in that period was very different than the one used today.
And the dude might not have even existed. :\
No. He wasn't born on Dec 25th. I don't have a lot of other info for you, but I'm sure there are papers on the internet you could find that explain the differences in calendars (the Roman calendar has only 10 months I think??) and that sort of thing. Research it!
i'm pretty sure that nobody really knows. We just celebrate it on December 25th, but It wasn't on December 25th that he was born.
NO
Scholars are unclear but the most universal date that is agreed on is April 1, 1 BC (BCE). It varies from 4 BCE to 2 AD (ACE). This is due mostly yo the reign of Herod.
There is no record to confirm or deny and statement of this kind. Not even the bible.
An equivalently unanswerable question would be ';which man discovered fire';
Actually, there is no verifiable proof that Jesus was EVER born.
That's something you have to take on faith.
Let me tell you a little story:
My friend, a devout atheist, died in a dishwater incident.
Coincidence?
Don't question His word.
